Job description

As our General Manager for La Cabra New York, you will be an essential leader within our team, ensuring that each café and bakery location provides an exceptional and consistent customer experience.

Your primary focus will be maintaining high operational and quality standards across all locations while overseeing day-to-day operations, managing budgets, and cultivating a high-performance culture. You’ll play a pivotal role in upholding La Cabra’s commitment to quality while ensuring efficiency and profitability.

At La Cabra, we value curiosity, quality, and collaboration, and we’re looking for someone who shares our dedication to quality and customer service. You will work closely with our and Danish headquarters as well as our local US team to drive the company to the next interesting chapter. Additionally, as we embark on the exciting project of building and opening a new bakery and café location beginning of 2025, you will serve as a key coordinator. This involves working closely with our architectural team in Denmark and overseeing collaborations with local builders and architects in New York to bring our new space to life.

Key responsibilities

•  Recruitment and Team Management: Take ownership of recruiting, training, supervising, and developing the New York team, ensuring a positive and inclusive work culture across all locations.

•  Operational Excellence: Maintain and enforce high standards for service, product quality, and cleanliness at all locations, supporting La Cabra’s reputation for excellence.

•  Financial Oversight: Prepare revenue reports, manage budgets, and implement strategies to maintain and improve profitability. Work closely with owners and a bookkeeper to oversee the economic performance of each location.

•  Project Coordination for New Location Build-Out: Act as the primary point of contact between our architectural team in Denmark and local builders and architects in New York. Oversee timelines, budgets, and project progress to ensure the successful and timely completion of the new bakery/café. Facilitate communication between teams to address challenges and uphold La Cabra’s aesthetic and functional standards.

•  Purchasing and Inventory Management: Handle purchasing needs and manage budgets for all locations, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimal waste.

•  Product and Service Innovation: Lead the implementation of new products, services, and campaigns as developed by La Cabra, ensuring smooth integration into daily operations.

•  Reporting and Feedback Gathering: Collect monthly financial reports, operational data, and staff feedback to continually assess and improve operations.

•         Expansion Support: Ensure that La Cabra’s operational standards are upheld in any new location openings, maintaining brand consistency and quality.

Ideal candidate

  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing and developing a team, with a commitment to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial reports, budgeting, and operational adjustments to improve profitability.

  • Operational Expertise: Experience in the hospitality or retail industry, with an understanding of best practices in customer service, quality control, and daily operations.

  • Project Management Skills: Experience in coordinating or managing build-outs or renovations is a strong asset. Ability to oversee project timelines, budgets, and multi-stakeholder communication to ensure the successful completion of new locations

  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for quality and operational standards, ensuring all locations reflect La Cabra’s high standards.

  • Adaptable and Proactive: Ability to work in a dynamic environment, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and improvement.

  • Commitment to Quality: A shared passion for coffee and bakery experiences, with a dedication to maintaining high standards across all products and services.

  • Cross-Team Communication: Strong skills in communication and coordination with remote teams to keep projects aligned and on track, especially when bridging the aesthetic and practical requirements between teams based in different locations.
